O atacante Gabriel Jesus se transferiu do Arsenal para o Barcelona nesta janela de transferências. Ele chegou ao Barcelona por 10 milhões de euros (cerca de 59 milhões de reais). O treinador espanhol Mikel Arteta respondeu, nesta sexta-feira (11/9), às críticas do brasileiro em relação a forma que a transferência foi conduzida. Ele explicou que teve uma conversa individual com Gabriel antes da negociação ser concluída.

“After the Coventry game, Ian Wright said he was uncomfortable with how Gabriel Martinelli was, in his view, being treated. I know you’ve spoken about the transparency you’ve had with your players this summer. So, are you surprised to hear those kinds of comments?”
🗣️ Mikel Arteta: “Very surprised, to be fair, especially because with Gabriel, I had an individual conversation with him in the dressing room. I don’t know exactly what words were said, and that’s fine. The words we exchanged were all about gratitude.
“Sometimes, I understand that when you have to deliver bad news or news that people don’t expect, those things can be reactive. If somebody has to be the bad cop, then I have to be the bad cop. I understand that.
“What’s important is what normally happens three months later, six months later. When Trossard comes in and he’s back in the dressing room with all of us, you look at the atmosphere and the relationship you have.
“Thank God, so far, with all the players who have left, at some point their relationship with us has been really good. I hope it’s the same case here.”

“Fiquei muito surpreso, para ser justo. Especialmente porque tive uma conversa individual com Gabriel no vestiário. As palavras que usamos um com o outro foram todas de gratidão. Então, não sei. Está tudo bem”, disse.
“Às vezes, entendo que, quando você precisa dar uma notícia ruim ou uma notícia que as pessoas não esperam, essas coisas geram reações. Alguém precisa ser o ‘vilão’. Se tiver que ser eu, será, e eu entendo”, completou.
Ele ressaltou ainda que espera que a relação continue boa como foi com os demais atletas que saíram.
“O importante normalmente é o que acontece três meses depois, seis meses depois. Graças a Deus, até agora, com todos os jogadores que saíram, em algum momento a relação foi muito boa. Espero que seja o mesmo caso”, afirmou.
Com a chegada na Catalunha, o brasileiro se pronunciou sobre a negociação e disse que treinou separado dos companheiros no Gunners e que nada foi avisado antecipadamente.

“A verdade é que eu estava treinando. Fiz toda a pré-temporada com o Arsenal, normalmente. Obviamente, eu já sabia que provavelmente não ia jogar lá ou que não teria muitas oportunidades, mas ninguém tinha me dito nada”, explicou Gabriel Jesus na chegada ao Barcelona.

Ele já estreou pelos Culés e na segunda partida marcou seu primeiro gol. O tento foi anotado na goleada por 5 x 1 contra o Feyenoord, da Holanda, pela Champions League.
